And so there we was, me and ole Catfish1, a sweatin' an a catchin, :o Man it was hot & humid before the rain around 6 PM but we were lucky, we ducked under someone's dock and stayed dry except the sweat, emoRedface We planned on nite fishing to beat some of the heat, although we started around 6 PM while it was still pretty hot, the rest of the trip was sure nice, emoThumbsup And the good thing about it the crappie were hungry while starting off catching 3 or 4 sppaaatttss before we caught a crappie. Some say that catchin' a fish on the 1st cast is bad luck but not so tonight, emoTongue The bite was not fast and they were DEEP in deep water but it was pretty steady all night. Jim had had a bad day with news of a death of a very near friend so the slow steady bite was just what he needed to keep him occupied, emoThumbsup We fished docks and deep structure to keep the count steadly rising and ended the trip with 55 crappie and 4 bass, quitting around 3 AM. We saw many bass fishermen out all night, dog fights I guess, hope they had some good luck too, emoThumbsup Crappie were caught on 1/32nd BG's in mostly lighter colors jigging around a green light after dark. I caught a nice heavy fish with an eel attached to his tail which dropped off when I got the fish in the boat, ( Man those are some ugly critters) so I cut his head off, (Tuff as wood) and threw him out on a spare rod thinking he may be good catfish bait emoScratch Catfish won't even eat those nasty things, emoVomit
It was a really nice trip with plenty of catchin', good fellowship and I added my 12th crappie TARP of the year to the totals. Thanks to Jim for finding a place to fish with all the junk that I had in the boat for night fishing, emoBig
(never know when you'll need a hatchet, emoBig
) All fish caught were returned to the deep to make some other Angler happy another time, emoLaugh
