shsimons, Riverpark, catfish/bluegill, 7-6-10, Scott
#1
Well, some of you may remember Scott. We have had some memorable trips, 30 bass from the bank, countless blues over 20 lbs drifting chicken in April. This time around, he finished up his 2nd tour in Iraq and really couldn't come up and fish till now. I told him it would be tough as the cats are just coming off spawn. We're going to fish early and late.

I lost all my rigs at the dam, poorly fishing it from the wrong angle looking for a cat bite. As we waited, we caught several bluegill. I managed to throw one right in the boil and let the current sweep it down, then Scott brought in a 17 lb blue. We had at least 10 bluegill that were trophy size to us. We headed downriver, after my boat wouldn't start, drifting with no luck. Got back to the ramp and put a different battery on, and anchor fished a few holes I had in mind.

One of the holes produced a 21 lber on cut skipjack, with the usual spawning marks. I'm kind of torn where I want to fish tonight, probably shallow at the riverpark with live and cut bait looking for mr big cat. Lots of reports to come.

Sam
