Deadwood today 7-11
#1
Decided to go to deadwood today for a day trip. Just me and my wife. Went in over scott Mtn. It took one hour from the oil road to the dam. So the road was not great but I have seen it much worse. We fished at the upper end and in two hours from 10:00 - 12:00 we caught 16 fish.
one rainbow 12", one Westslope Cutthroat 14", 14 Koks on and 9 in the boat. Kokanee were 9-14".Most were 12-13". A very nice couple of hours spent in a beautiful spot. We were trolling beer can's with a little weight and wedding ring spinners. bait was worm tipped with Gulp maggots or Pautzke's Fire Corn. the corn was the best. We came out over deadwood summit to Landmark and Warm Lake, the road was in pretty good shape. A very nice drive when you are not in a hurry.

Oh that's some great news. Since I'm not going salmon fishing on the SF next week I think I'll make a DW run. Thanks for the info, Tight lines [fishon]

Thanks for the report! I'm interested in the lake and the river. How did the upper river look?

The river was just a little higher than normal for this time of year. but would be very fishable. The water was very cold.

Glad to hear it, had a great time dry-flyin' it last summer, I'll probably give it another week to come down and go hit it again next Sunday. I love that area. Think my front-wheel drive Hyundai Elantra will make it going south from Landmark? We took Bear Valley Creek way in, north from Lowman last year, kind of a long drive, but way better conditions than Scott Mtn road...I can't believe the Hyundai made it down that road last year, I would never attempt it again.

The road from Landmark was in pretty good shape. it looked like they had run a grader down that way for the 4th., only a little wash board, no large ruts. [Smile]
