Well it was a Grand Slam day.
We had an awesome time and our guide Todd with SFO was fantastic.

The best part was Gloria, first time with a fly rod and her first cutty.

Like I had said I had never been with a guide and Tod went beyond anything I had espected. We got on the water at 10 and fished till 7, he fixed my pole and then let me use his for the entire trip, never once got into my flies or had to tie a fly on or take a fish off. He even undid my wind knots and other messes besides keeping the fly in the sweet spots as we worked the banks.

The whole trip was exciting with lots of beautifull scenery and he knows how and where to go for sure. The best was when we hit a hatch on the gravel bar where we had lunch. We'd work the bank and the the drop off all right where we had stopped to eat for at least an hour and a half. The fish were feeding all around us and then some cloud cover came in and WOW did it turn on!

Not sure if I will get to do that again but it was a great time and I do love to dry fly fish.

Keep looking to the East
He will be coming in the clouds.

Sounds like you had a great day. The south fork is a great place to fish. Thanks for the report and the pictures. Hope you will get to fish there again.

Good on ya Mike and Gloria. You should remember that trip for a while. The personality of the river changes drastically from spring to winter, and I wish you could experience all her moods. It's a great float.

Doesn't that take some getting used to? I went out catching halibut in Alaska and the captain grabbed my hook and baited it, unhooked fish, everything. There I stood, perfectly capable, but it was his job and he wanted to do it so I finally got used to it.

I see you didn't pay extra for the shore lunch. [Wink]

At first I was uncomfortable but then I realized that is what he does and just settled in and let him do it.
