Well what can I say....my lack of big fish program for the CBAs is alive and well. Sad Colby my normal partner went to Florida with Cazyaboutbass Kevin and I was left to fish this one on my own. Since I had a free pass for a Junior in this one it seemed a shame not to use it. I told Colby if anyone else in his Junior club would want to go to tell them about us and the free pass. He found Basspro96(Caleb) who filled in for Colby very well. emoSmile

We met up at HBSP at 5:15 and crossed over to Chester Park. We were boat 67 so we were in the second fight. The CBA guys did a great job getting everyone off safely and quickly. emoThumbsup Caleb and I went first to some shallow grass and hooked up with three slicks. Not one keeper so I figured we were in for a long day. Second place I changed our strategy and headed for deeper water on a hump. Hit that area using cranks, worms, shakeys and dropshots. Came away with three keepers that were 16.5, 16.5 and 15.1. Not much weight but a start. emoRolleyes Decided to go after some pets and drown a shakey for the next hour or two. Managed a couple more but nothing of size. Finally on some structure Caleb has one take off hard on him and he sets the hook. He only had on 8 lb test and I was not sure who had who. It was on the edge of open water and I shouted,"'Don't let her get you back in the structure"....it was too late. emoDoh Took him right into the worst stuff and SNAP!!...line broke. emoBawl That was a pretty good fish, I told him he was filling in for Colby well. emoPoke Colby usually does that every CBA. emoBigSmile That was it there and we headed back out to the lake once more to look for schools on humps. My front fish finder has died so I have to ask the person in the back often what is on the back one. emoBadLanguage Got to get me a new one, that is a hassle. We boated several more on drops and a couple on cranks but were only able to move up a couple ozes. Moved up river and hit some ledges and bluffs but again only a couple ozes to cull up. The big ones were no where to be found by us. Moved two more times and stayed on the river fishing deeper stuff but no more culling was done. We about got beat up by all the big boats, jet skiers and ski boats. emoHoppingmad Some of them came right by us and put waves over the boat. Man it was rough. The day came to a close and we started back. About half way back I asked Caleb if he would mind skipping the weigh in since I knew we would not have enough to do any good. Our points would not count for Colby and I since Colby had to be there so we skipped the weigh in.

I weighed our best five just to see what we had and we had 10 lbs and 11 ozes. emoRolleyes Not the stellar day we had hoped for but we gave it our best shot. Sure beat sitting at home and most things I could be doing. emoToast Had a good time, in all we boated about 20 bass with 8 or 9 keepers. Best baits were the drop shot and shakey,

C-ya on the water. emoAngler Jmax
