Hal, Chick - Sale Creek area, Crappie, 7-11-10, Catfish1 and Friends
#1
Catfish1 and I put in near Sale Creek this morning about 6AM to do some crappie hunting, (You know you just can't catch crappie in all this hot weather in the middle of summer time, emoScratch Lemme see, Wednesday=57......Friday=40........Sunday=50, Naaaw, can't catch crappie in this hot weather, emoSmile ) We had a great day, about 7:00 I see this big white boat with brown stripes coming along. Well who is this, it's ole M17Glock and his son, William emoSmile Good to see them and I got my first ride with a side scanner, (wish I had one!) By that time we had about 10 or so in the box, all over 11 inches so we asked David if he was keepin' fish today and he said that he was so we gave him those. We fished around the area for a while and decided to go do some more huntin' in a different place so off we went. We hit the mother load of nice crappie there, several over 12 inch slabs so by fishing as a double team we had more crappie for him to add to his box, emoTongue emoThumbsup We hit one more place and caught a few more, one being a TARP White that David put in the box, emoThumbsup Between the two boats, fishing together, we had over 90 crappie caught and David took a double limit, all over 11 inches, to his neighbor who was wantin' to have a fish fry. The neighbor's comment, when David told him he had some nice crappie for him was, "You can't catch that kind'a crappie in this hot weather!", emoBigSmile
It was a supprise to me that we caught many fish on a 6 count in 10 FOW although some were caught on a 12 count in 25 FOW. Temps were around 85* in most places today.
Bait of choice seemed to be BG Bleeding Shad with a few caught on Patroit, all with a tail light.
I hope everyone else had as much fun as I had 'cause it was a blast, lookin' forward to the next trip, emoTongue emoBigSmile
