Henry's Lake
#1
Left from Utah on Wednesday evening and went and fished Thursday-Saturday and had an absolutely stellar trip. No real secret as to where the fish are, just find all the boats. The fish were pretty picky as to what they wanted to take but once we figured it out we caught fish just about all day. 90% were brookies, all about 2-3 pounds with the occasional 4-5 pounders. Caught only 4 cutts all about the average 2-3 pounds. Big fish of the trip was a hybrid about 6 pounds. Awesome trip.

Awesome fish! One of these days I'll figure that lake out enough to do that!

Thanks for the report. Nice pics. Were you flyfishing? If so what flies were they hitting?

Yeah we were fly fishing. Early morning you could get away with throwing something bigger but once the sun was up small emergers was the ticket.

Nice fish there for sure. We were there the week before and it was a little more challenging with 3' waves all three days.

Nice job! Them brooks are the only reason I want to fish Henry's. I'd love to catch a 5 pounder to put on the wall (replica of course)

Congrats on the good trip. Henry's can be pretty hit or miss from my experience. Nice fish, all of them. Love catching those big brookies! There seems to be a lot more brookies in Henry's now compared to 15 years ago.

I don't want to burst a bubble or hurt any feelings, but I believe that 4th picture is a typical Henry's cut, not a hybrid. The hybrids I have caught are much more silvery than that one is and they have different markings, but I could be wrong.

I am thinking so also iwantabuggy. A female Cutt. The Hybrids I have caught were more silvery/chrome. But, I don't know on these.
What is the length on that one?

That fourth pic is definitely a cutty, the hybrids and rainbows will have white tipped fins. Looks like you guys had a good trip. I am also interested in a spawning colored brookie, but when do you guys/gals think the best time of the year is to get on a good one?

Really? I didn't know they have white tips... It was pretty chrome and silver, the lighting in that picture was a little weird. It was 24 inches. My grandpa caught another one pretty similiar to that fish, we unfortunately couldn't revive it after he landed it so we had to keep it to eat it and got checked upon taking the boat out and he agreed it was a hybrid, its the picture attached.

Also a cutt. Here is a hybrid, but I don't think it will help. I scanned an old picture and the exposure is off now. Tried adjusting it, but just can't get it. Anyone else have one? Once you see the difference, you'll definitely notice.

And you know, I would say if it was over 26" it probably is a Hybrid but my friend caught this 28" just a under 8 lb Cutt last year:

So, the Cutts are getting bigger and this is a good thing.
