holy crow best sturgeon fishing day ever
#1
i had today off from work so i decided to hit a local hole and go chase down some dinos. well between about 11:30 am and 8:45 pm i hooked and landed 9 fish ranging from about 4.5 to 6ft (its a bit tough to put a tape on a fish when your all alone) That is the best i have ever done in one day and brings my year count up to about 50 fish. Man alive i am loving this work nights fish days thing.

Pretty fast action for sturgeon, there. Wish I had some heavy enough gear to target them. What were you using as bait?

I will bet cut bait was the choice bait, we used to use Lasco Roll mop Herring but I can find the same brand around here anymore. All the stores have gone to the other brand which I firmly belive that it does not work as good as the other. We had a 12 fish night at swan all over 6' and one real hog at 9' 3". Doesnt mean squat without pics I know.

It has been two years since I have fished that area hard, I lost my sturgeon fishing partner to cancer three years ago and have a hard time fishing that area. We casted his ashes out at rattlesnake eddy and its still tough.. he will be missed. But I am and have been looking for another partner that has the same passion as he did to help get me fired up again. I want to get back into it but going with the brother in law and other friends has been tough cus they just dont understand until you tie into a 7 or 8 or 9 even a 10 footer. How and why you can stare at a rod tip for hours and still leave happy not catching a thing cus you know any minute it could be one. Always looking for new fishing partners. Sorry for the sob story

fishing partner for about 6 years and also we roomated together and ended up working at the same company, tons of time spent talking fishing and thinking about fishing. I know for a fact that there are some real giants not so sure how many are still down there. If I had a good choice I would fish the upper waters of strike resivoir I believe that they can hide in there and not get caught too often. A couple years ago they found I believe 4 heads lopped off of fish at swan and one was a good 7 foot fish. I feel that there are people taking them and and killing them because the law enforcment has been lack luster at best down there. I have been checked maybe twice in 8 plus years fishing. I did not mean to hijack the thread sorry

My condolences a person never really realizes how much the depend on friends or how the impact our lives till they are gone. Kinda funny tho I have had people say why spend all that time and money if you cant keep them. they understand after i have took them and they have hooked into one [laugh]
