Hiking near Henry's lake
#1
Next Wed to Saturday we will be going to Henry's lake. I'm probably only going to fish there on Thursday because Friday we are going to Yellowstone. My question is there any good hiking trails near Henry's? Not too long of a hike because I have 2 kids that love to hike but can only last about an hour doing it. We just want to get out and enjoy the area. I'd say within 30 minutes drive of the Wild rose ranch (where we are staying).

Also any great places to hike in yellowstone for kids? I've been to YS a million times but never really got out and hiked because of fear as a child of getting attacked by a bison or bear. We always just stayed on the boardwalks. Anyway any ideas there too?

Yea this post has really nothing to do with fishing!

I just saw the OFF TOPIC board! Sorry how do I move this post to there?

Near Henry's there is the Targhee Creek trail. If you take the highway from Island park resort going towards West Yellowstone watch for the first (I think) turnoff on the left. It is just before the road makes a curve to the right and the hills narrow up on the road. I don't believe there is a loop or anything so it's just go until you want to turn around, but I hiked in there for scouts years ago and enjoyed it. There is also some areas to hike all around that area. The Big Springs area east of Macks Inn and Island Park Village has a boardwalk nature trail. Good for kids and usually lots of wildlife. I know there are more, but can't remember specifics. As for the park I would recomend a book called Yellowstone Day Hikes. Will give you tons of info for in the park.
