Work has finally slowed down enough that i could finally get the boat out.I cant believe it is the middle of july and this is the first trip out with the boat [frown]. We floated the south fork and it was amazing fishing today. Between the three of us I bet we caught at least 50 fish between 8" to 18". We were using rapala's brown trout seemed to be the hot one but we caught them on black & silver rainbow and even a few on gulp minnows. We put in at 7:00 am and got off the water at 2:00 pm. We took a little side channel of the river that got a little interesting got so skinny the oars where hitting on both sides and we had to carry the boat over two different log jams. All in all a great day. Sorry no pic's

I don't know why this erased half of my message.
Anyway -- Sounds like it was fun even if you did have to "work" at it a bit. What section of the river were you on?

Thanks for the report. Nothing beats the Rapala although the gulp minnows are a lot cheaper.

Thanks for the report! I was on the same stretch 3 days ago from 4:30-10pm. We caught a LOT of fish. All were on three different flies, yellow Sally, pmd, and grey drake. Also some underneath on rubber legs.

Glad to hear you had a good day. I know how it is, we're working 70 hrs a week at our mechanic shop.
I apologize for my questions, but where is the South Fork you fished? I'm from Utah, and I'm trying to go fishing for two days (it's really rare I get two days off in a row). Also, if I could trouble you to find out what species you caught? It seems like you said brown trout, but I'm not sure if you were using a brown trout Rapala (English is my second language if you haven't noticed yet, LOL).
I'm still trying to decide what part of Idaho I'm going to go hideout at this weekend. I'm really starting to envy everybody living in Idaho right now because fishing isn't great in Utah, although I've had a few reports of Catfish being caught.
Thanks in advance.

well part of the time the wife fly fished from 8 to 11 then soon as we got out of the upper canyon the wind was blowing so hard she switched to rapalas and panther martins all i did was row row and more row. I would have bought a motor for just about any price [sly] . The salmon flys were pretty thick but not many getting into the water yet I threw them and golden stones . also drifted some sucker meat. I think the lower part of the river is holding more fish after reading your report. we did the best above luftkin but all were about this size
