Got to CFP about 6:20 this morning and saw Ditchdoc in the parking lot. He was riding with a friend. Got onto some bass early at the first stop. Main lake flat with a drop from 13-26'. Fish were on top and down the drop. There was a ton of baitfish. Caught 3 very quickly on gulp 4" minnow in shad color on dropshot rig. They didn't seem to want the usual green/yellow minnow today. Fish were good size 2 - 2 1/2#. Then got some working the shad over at the surface, on a sammy and superfluke jerkbait. These ran a little smaller until I got a big hit shallow on a spinnerbait. Probably a 4# range that made that last jump at the boat and threw the spinner. emoBang

Caught 6 Bass there and lost 2, 3 cats, and a drum. The bite slowed about 8:30 and the topwater stopped dead. Tried a couple more places in same general area and marked some fish, but could not get them going. Decided to head up river and play around the grass a bit with a frog and spinnerbait. Nothing doing with the frog, but had a huge bass come off the grass and swipe at the spinnerbait, but no hookup. Would have loved to stick her as she was a "bigun". Saw Bassert and Mrs Bassert while I was playing in the weeds. Pat is talking new depthfinder to go with his new boat. It's a sickness, lol.

Moved on up river to work another main channel hump and marked a lot of fish. Really stacked up in a couple of places. Caught 3 more nice bass on the dropshot and then the cats moved in and wore out my baits. Had a couple of blues about 5-6# and couple of smaller channel cats. After catching 3 straight cats I decided to call it a morning and headed in about 11:30. It was pretty nice out with some breeze and clouds through most of the morning. Left a lot of bass at the last stop, but hopefully they will be there tomorrow when I am fishing with Nauticman.

We should have a good time tomorrow as he knows lots of good spots, lol.

Regards, Labman

I know you all must be getting bored with my daily reports, come on guys post your fishing trips for all of us to enjoy.
