The family vacationed in St. August. for a week. Between sightseeing and hanging out on the beach, my son and I fished 3 mornings. On the Intercoastal Waterway we caught flounder, jacks, ladyfish, a small grouper, catfish, whiting, baitstealers and 2 of the ugliest fish that swim -- toadfish. Nothing to brag about. 2 mornings we fished St. Augustine Pass and nearby bay waters. The best fish we caught were Pete Jr.'s 2 bull reds and my bonnethead shark. We also caught some decent bluefish which we cooked up one night after removing the red streak -- pretty good! One red was caught on a Gulp Shrimp. The other red and the shark were caught on bait we netted. Everything else was caught on Gulp baits or lipless cranks.

Seems like everywhere you go you see people do crazy things and the beach was no exception. There were hundreds of birds resting on a sandbar in the Pass and some joker comes riding up on a bike and tosses a string of firecrackers right into the middle of them scaring them all up! It was all we could do to hold our
s! We saw shore fhermen keep illegal fish also.
