Well i'm on the hunt to cross a goldens off of my bucket list of trout I want to catch. Ive got 2 weeks from finishing work till I start school back up and would like to find a lake or place to hike into to give goldens a shot. Problem is I have no clue of any places that hold them. So looking for any leads etc of where to start. Ill be based out of Idaho Falls and would like to keep the drive time down to 2.5 to 3 hours from there. Hike in is half the fun so Im not worried about that. Any advice on where to start would be a huge help. Thanks Brad.

Look on the fish and game site for the history of planting them. Then google the lakes. There are quite a few of them. i was also looking at this quest earlier this summer. there are a few lakes up by sun valley that looked like they would not be too bad of a hike. I still have not got around to it. Good luck,

Thanks for the info. Got a couple of pms, that info, and some time spent using google Ive got a spot picked out. Now just need the weather to cooporate and hopefully it will be fish on!

Consider the Wind Rivers in Wyoming. It's not Idaho but your drive is very similar I think for anything with goldens and your options will be far more. Trailheads are in the Pinedale area about an hour or so south of Hoback Junction.

Does Wyoming have stocking info or any kind of a list to know which lakes in the Winds contain what???

Im open to the wind rivers also, have some friends that just got back from some peaks out of pinedale. Lake im looking in Idaho also happens to be in an area I haven't been to since I was a kid and have wanted to go back to.
Im headed through pinedale next week on my move back from denver.

Stop at the Great Outdoor Shop on your way through town to get info on which lakes have Goldens.
