Fished the Cleveland Bassmaster's Classic today on Watts Bar. We were socked in because of the fog so we started hitting the shoreline with buzzbaits, blades, traps, and shakeyheads. Wannabees only. Ran slowly to the back of a large slough where we would remain the rest of the day. Baitfish were everywhere and so were the striped bass. Mitchell was throwing a gold lipless crankbait which they seemed to like. He caught 3 in the 20-25 lb range. Broke off on another. My fish (green) were caught on a spinnerbait and a shakeyhead. He did manage to catch 2 green fish on his own. Ended up winning with 4 fish for almost 11 lbs. Also won the big fish money with a 4 lber. So, after a miserable year, I finally win my one and only tournament this season and it was the last one of the year. WooHoo!!
The bite really didn't turn on until the wind kicked up. All of our fish were caught in 6 feet of water or less.
Water temps were 5-6 degrees warmer than last week. We found 70 degree water in the afternoon.
