gene made the trip down here to fish with me on the upper end of the chick today and it couldn't have turned out much better.
i was worried that i wouldn't be much of a guide but the crappie made me look pretty good, even the panhandler we ran into today gave us both a
emoTongue

started out at about 0700 to a pretty dense fog a chilly air temps but finally made to our first spot , a partially submerged log in about 15 fow, where gene promptly put it on me with 3 11" plus fish on 3 cast with a
BG moglo outlaw special on a 1/32 jig. didnt take long for me to switch to what he was using and try to catch up. after catching quite a few keepers there we went to another spot only to find others on it . i scaned it anyway to show
gene a few things about the spot before heading to a bluff wall known to hold a bunch of short fish. i told him we could get some numbers there but not any real good keepers. well he proved me WRONG.
first cast there and he hauls in a nice 12" slab while i played in a 8" .THEN he pulls in a 13" while i pull in another 8" emoDoh about that time our masked panhandler turns up begging for food.
after gene tossed him a bite or 2 of his chicken sandwich he looked ready to jump in the boat with us if i got close enough. so i made sure to stay far enough away . left there and went down to possum creek where we picked up a few
solid keepers on blow downs and vertical structure. while we were there we ran into capt. hazmat and fished around with him a bit before heading out to some main lake docks.
i redeemed myself from earlier by catching almost all the fish at one dock while gene hauled a lot of water there , even though i gave him some of the LFT chart glo lures i was using emoPoke once it slowed down for me there we went to some off shore stuff where gene put me in my place with the lure i gave him emoDoh

not only did he out fish me on this hard to find/fish middle of nowhere structure he pulled in his PB black crappie at 15" and 2lbs emoThumbsup
by the time we left there we had 25 over 11" in the boat . when we headed back up river about 1pm or so the wind had picked up and made for a bouncy ride back to a spot i wanted to fish earlier .
gene showed my up there to by quickly putting 2 more over 11" in the boat THEN had the nerve to catch another tarp at 14-1/2" still using the lure I GAVE HIM emoDoh
we ended the day about 3:30pm with 45 total crappie 30 over 11" ,10 that were under 11" and only 5 under 10"
the count ranged from 6-8 on the shallower 15fow stuff to 18 in the 20fow+ stuff
while we never got into a real hot bite it was pretty consistent all day long
congrats gene on a new PB crappie ...... ON A LURE I GAVE YOU emoBig
total weight for the day was 31-1/2 lbs for the 30 keepers and 12-3/4 for the best 10
not a bad day at all emoBig
