Local Bluefin Tuna
#1
[size 1]Just returned from a overnight trip on the Eldorado, out of Long Beach Sportfishing. We were scheduled to fish the islands but Dan opted to go offshore and look for the yellowtail on paddie. In the morning we began trolling 15 miles past the eastend of San Clemente Isl. The first paddie produced 6 nice yellows to 20 lb. and a few were lost in the paddie. The next paddie saw more yellows and two bluefin tunas both close to 40lbs.
Most kelp paddies held yellowtails and sometimes the tuna. All fish were caught on sardines and a few on the iron. No troll fish.
Highlite on the trip was Dan trying to bait a 200lb. swordfish for 1/2 hr. but the swordie wasn't intrested in eating.
Weather was windy with 2 to 4 foot swells. Water temp. 66 to 68, skys partly cloudy and 66.
Total count 3 bluefin tuna and 70 yellowtails.

Thanks Freshfish,

Great report and much appreciated. Have you checked out all the information and message boards here on BFT. There's lot's of general and special interest boards that welcome any and all contributions. I, myself, am especially interested in 'just back' reports from anglers fresh or salt.
