Hey all, i'm planning on hitting Weston res in the next few days. Wondering if anybody has fished it recently or heard if they are getting any decent perch out of there?
If not i'll post a report in a couple days and let you know!
Thanks

Yeah, no perch there [laugh] I don't ice fish, but I may have run into some perch there in the fall. I'm sure they're still lurking around, I only kept a few for dinner. Just move until you find them, there are still some decent numbers in there despite what people say.

I have only heard reports over very slow fishing thru the ice this year. The fish did get beat up pretty bad last Summer/Fall at Weston, I almost felt bad[sly]!

My buddy and I fished Weston on Saturday. We didn't even get a bite!! I maybe saw one for sure fish on the finder and that was it. We fished 3 different locations, and nothing!! We decided to pack it up and went to Deep Creek and caught a few small trout. I did not see anyone on Weston catch a fish.

Maybe we did beat up on them too much during the fall. Well, I guess I'll just have to take the old tube out as soon as the ice comes off and find out what's going on up there.

He'd said he caught a ton of fish there in the fall and I was just implying that I had done the same. It's a nice little reservoir, hopefully the fish are just off right now and there wasn't a winter kill from low water.

It sounds like there was a fall kill before the winter ever had a shot at it. I hit it once in august and got enough to last me for a while.
Hit it for 5 hours about three weeks ago in the same area I caught them on the soft deck. We didn't see a single fish on the finder, had two bites and caught one perch.

Dont' want to start a rumor, but Idaho Dept. Fish and Game told me that Weston and Johnson reservoirs winterkill every so many years. They figure that is what keeps both reservoirs from becoming over populated with small perch.

Well, as long as it's a partial kill and not a total die off. It could be good for growing bigger bass too. I would feel pretty bad if it became yet another nice quiet little reservoir that's now just a planter trout hole though.

I don't know about the whole winter-kill thing. I hear it's like this every winter, they are just super hard to find! By the way i fished it and it was beyond slow, we couldn't find a perch anywhere! drilled atleast 50 holes and fished every one for atleast 10 minutes with the flasher hoping to mark something!

Yeah, I'm not going to worry too much about it until I get out there this spring. People are always talking about how there aren't any perch left in there, and I still run into plenty of them during the open water period.
