Ririe Report

No school today so after doing a few chores around the house I packed up three kids and headed to Ririe. Too cold for school does not mean it is too cold for ice fishing.[cool]

We didn't get set up until 10:30 so it was a late start hoping for some kokanee. Didn't see any on the finder today. My son caught three trout and I managed one perch, but I wasn't skunked.[laugh]

I saw a lot of perch on the vex but couldn't get them to bite.

My youngest son decided to step in a hole at the same time that the propane ran out so it was a short trip, but nice to get out.

Glad to hear you guys got on the hard deck for a while! Are you going to move your ice house over deeper water?

No. The ice house is over a trout hole. They are very reliable and that is what the kids need. I don't want to give away my perch holes and the kokes are too random to count on out there.

How big is your ice house? I would love to see some pictures of it. I think it is great that you have set up so that your boys can be comfortable and enjoy their outings with you. That in itself is a lot of work!

Agreed, I would love to see some images of the Ice house. How long did it take you to make? Is it the wooden structure that's out there to the southwest? I guess it makes sense to leave it out there.

Ya, that is my permanent house out there on Ririe.

It is 8*8 with a bunk bed and five holes. It breaks down onto two sleds that we pulled out there. I will take pictures since I am staying out there with my scouts tonight.

That is pretty cool --fishing from you bed! If the top bunk gets a bite does the bottom bunker get fish slapped?? [laugh][laugh][laugh]

Have fun with the scouts! I am sure they will have a blast. They are some lucky kids!
