IL2F,

You remember something, don't you...

No, not big creek, but not too far off. It is a tributary to the Salmon river.

Wasn't this on your Fall trip this year? Like when maybe you rode in from Meyers Cove?

Good guess, but no. Not on the trip from Meyers Cove, but not too far away either. Probably less than 20 air miles.

Pistol Creek?

Nope, not pistol creek, but if you said Little Pistol Creek, you'd be really close.

Indian Creek?

Getting really close. I actually read my map wrong. Little Pistol dumps into Pistol and it is very very close to Pistol. Keep guessing.

I am surprise I finally got it. Why I kept trying, I don't know, as I am running low on pictures! I think it is cabin fever.

Here is a harder one for those that are from other parts of the state, so I will post a couple of pictures. Here is a morning picture that is taken from the west, and shows the creek partially frozen over.[inline "Fishing 672 Standard e-mail view.jpg"]

Here is an afternoon picture taken from the other side of the gap.

What is the stream that runs through the gap?

Next clues: Southeast part of the state and on the west side of Interstate 15. The slit in the mountains is visible from the freeway. Also visible on Google Earth!

Very close! But not Hawkins Creek.

You can get to Hawkins Res from there, but it would be the back way and a longer way around. Different creek drainage.
