Southern California Saltwater Fishing Gone Ballistic !!!!
#1

Hey there guys,

I couldn't keep this info on just one board. The Southern California Saltwater scene from Catalina Island (off Los Angeles) to San Diego has gone absolutely nuts. This is like an El Nino years of the past.

Fish being caught by open-party, 3/4 day, all day and overnighter boats include: Yellow Fin Tuna, Blue Fin Tuna (110+ pounds), dorado(mahi mahi), Yellowtail, Albacore (35 pounds), Skipjack, Mako Shark and Striped marlin! On open party boats!!!! Lot's of paddy hopping. Twice as many hooks as caught! I'm leavin' for the dock at 1am to get my spot!!!

I'll be going out the next 4 days.... sorry about that guys! What a trip! 75 foot Sporties with 20 to 30 passengers (remember open-party weekday trips) are getting 150+ fish!!! Aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

If you're going, bring your 50 pound setups or you'll return with tears in your eyes.

That sounds Great JR. Have a good time. I will stick the little fish I can beat up. I don't like fish that are as strong or stronger than me! [shocked]

Remember plenty of water and sunscreen, but you already now that [cool]

Hi theangler,

Look forward to your report and posting of pictures on all applicable boards. I had a really bad day of fishing at Catalina today. I wonder if it had something to do with the moon or Mars? ha ha

Kinda scary because I will be going out on the Aztec and fishing the paddys on the backside of San Clemente.

Good luck to you and all our compadres.
