Got me. It is a little over an inch long. I was thinking some kind of Cicada when I first saw it but it now looks like a BIG fly.

Dang, but that is big and ugly not matter what you call it! Looks more like an elephant fly! I pity the horse or what ever that bites. I thought I had seen some bad horse flies before, but that one beats them all out.

Weird thing is, I have been bit by Horse Flies this year and they hurt for sure, but they were about 1/2" long...this was Cicada size at over an inch....
But sure enough...just wonder, why here?

I've seen a horse fly, and I seen a dragon fly, but I've seen everything when I see an elephant fly. [sly]

I haven't googled this yet but is there any horse fly repeling agents,or anything else you can do to avoid getting bit, last trip to glades one made me bleed on top of the hand, man they are fearless, they just keep coming back for more, that guy looks pretty scary, down here they are brown..seen them up to an inch, one time on the windshield before we got out...[Image: scaredworried.gif] only other places I encountered them is around pools, even at work I can't catch a break..
