I went over to Blackfoot Reservoir today. The water is still quite cold and many of the carp are still holding deep. However, there were a few pre-spawn males holding in about 1' of water near shore, which was great for sight casting with a fly rod.
There was a bunch of wildlife out and about today, including sandhill cranes, a golden eagle, a beaver and a few pelicans.
It took a few seconds for these sluggish carp to realize they'd been hooked. Once they did, however, they got me into my backing pretty quickly...
Overall, it was relatively slow - considering what the fishing is like here in May, June and July. Still, a slow day at Blackfoot Reservoir is pretty darn fun.
