Preston Ponds
#1
Trying to decide if I should head to American Falls for smallies this weekend or head to one of the Preston lakes for some large mouths.

Just wondering of any one has been down there recently?

Thanks

The largemouth are definitely getting active, though the best action I've had this year was a couple of weeks ago when we had that first warm spell.

I fished Lamont on Wed. afternoon. The water was clear, but pretty cold, slightly warmer in the coves. We caught a few pre-spawn bluegills, and some dinky perch on a jig, tipped with a worm.

I'd advise waiting a week for the water to warm up a bit. It's been chilly the past two nights.

Hope this helps. Wetvet

Took my family to twin today no signs of bluegill yet but the bass are in the shallows avg 10-12 inches. There still a little slugish though.

Thanks for the info guys, went to Condie yesterday and it was slow. Some bass in the shallows. They just weren't very aggressive.

Went to Twin Lakes today and had a fair amount of action with the large mouth. They are in the shallows and still pretty sluggish. I used a bright green split back floating rapala that the two guys I was with were teasing me about. However, I caught three times as many as they did using my lure. Most were in the 10-11 in range, but did catch a couple in the 15-16 in range. I even caught a nice size blue gill with it. Hopefully it will pick up in the coming weeks. Good luck, Derick
