Knowing this is costly and a long process the reason for a variety of different fish in this lake are easy to see. looking at the bft board and others like it any time some one gets something different its always shared and people are always excited to see it. i could show many past posts on this site about tigers browns and other fish that have been taken from the berry.
This being know i would suggest as a trial just to put a few of the overages that you get in to strawberry this would not show up in the average anglers catches but you could see the a small impact in the surveys and put the lure or the possibility of catching something different out there. This would be a big draw to a lot more angler even people in this thread that said they are against this have stated they would fish it more if .....
I know there is some overages here and there i was sitting at the ladder when 170k 2 inch koke's was dumped in while the ice was on the lake and i questioned why and was told by the guys planting the fish that it was either that or just dumping them one the ground because they where "overage"
The ice being on the lake was not the factor here but the fact that it was the only 30 feet of open water on the lake and the big fish was stacked in there the next 2 weeks every fish i caught had 15 to 20 koke's in it and there was alot of fish in there if they would of just changed where they planted these fish by 200 yard the survial rate would of tripled at least just goes to show that the angler putting in the hour sometime could help out the guys with the degrees

good point i told them i would of drilled some holes for them but they said these fish would head out for the main lake and make it just fine
i think i still have a 5 gallon bucket that has a piece of tape on it that says like 15k kokes that they left behind

They were just bums that the biologists picked up on the street!
come on goddess, give them a little credit! I'm sure that they were hatchery personnel, who also happen to have some training!
Who cares if many of those fish were eaten! Keep in mind: they were surplus! So, ANY survival at all WAS EXTRA! Those that ended up being "fish food" played a good role as well for those trout that ate them.
Now -- concerning surplus tigers: requests are submitted by managers across the state for surplus fish for other fisheries as well. So, again, even if you want surplus fish at Strawberry, you still have to "share" available surplus. It still isn't "Walmart" where you can simply say "I want more of that".
Like Paul said -- take it to the open houses. This has been a good discussion so far. keep it up.

I've been sitting on the sidelines reading this thread and am glad to see that Jacksonman and a few others are echoing my thoughts on this subject.
I usualy only fish Strawberry once or twice a year. Mainly this is because I'd rather spend the gas money and drive to Scofiled and have a shot at truely nice fish as opposed to a dozen 16" cutts or rainbows.
Apparently the trick is to keep the meat fisherman happy with high number of small fish, and fewer numbers of bigger fish for guys like myself who like to target them. I think that some tigers in Strawberry would be a nice option since they do tend to inhabit different areas of a lake. Like Jacksonman said, you don't need to dump millions of them in there, but it would sure be a nice option if you wanted to target some bigger fish instead of cookie cutter bows and cutts. And if they do start to cause problems, just quit planting them, and they'll be mostly gone in a few years. Hybrids are great for this. For what its worth..... Fred K.

So, you are saying Scofield is FULL of big fish, but Strawberry full of small?
You really need to spend more time at Strawberry. I have fished Scofield many times and caught a lot of small fish....along with chub.
I may not post pictures but I have caught a bunch of 25+" out of Strawberry this year.

alot of people do catch the larger fish but why not have the chance to hook in to one of those big tigers like what scofiled has now that least they wont fight like a clump of moss and you think they get big in scofiled lets see what they would do in the berry

You're taking my post a bit too literal. Yes, there are some good size fish in Strawberry, I've managed to catch a few myself. However, I do think that you've got a much better chance at a bigger fish at Scofield, than you do at Strawberry, and in my opinion, one of the reasons is becuase the tigers are planted in Scofield, as opposed to cutts and rainbows at Strawberry (discounting the handful of tigers that have slipped in with the rainbow or cutt stockings). If there were more tigers in Strawberry, a lot of folks might have a shot at some consistantly bigger fish. Fred K.

I guess whatever works for you. I catch bigger at Strawberry, but then there is always two sides to every coin. I appear to be the opposite to you. I have fished Scofield, caught nice trout, a lot of chub. I prefer Strawberry and the drive is 6's.
I wouldn't fight if they were to put Tiger in Strawberry. I just don't agree they need to.

Since this got revived I can't help but comment:
What harm would a few tigers do? Stock 5,000-10,000 of them and make it mandatory catch and release on all Tiger Trout. They would help with the chub problem and if it is catch and release all of them will get very big... giving people that "trophy" element so many have mentioned in this post and others.

NO!!!!!!!!!! No tigers in the berry. It is perfect exactly how it is, if anything i agree with the kamloop rainbows, the chubs are already controlled enough, strawberry also needs more kokes.

Ice fisherman, you said, "it is perfect exactly how it is". But then say you would like to see more kokes in there. So which is it, more of the same or change? I personally would like to see some fish coming out of that lake that aren't 20"-21 1/2" cutts, I think it would be awesome to see some big tigers coming out of strawberry. Like ice fisherman, I would like to have a better chance at hooking into more kokanee as well, so I am down for change for the better at the berry.

I meant it is perfect exactly how it is with the fish that are already in there, the only different fish i want stocked int there are kamloop rainbows, just extra big bows
