Bear Lake/ Small Creeks
#1
Just got back from another great trip up above Bear Lake. Had lots of fun fishing those creeks up there. Also was fun catching some 10lb+ Bear Lake Bonefish on a 4 wt rod. Anyone headed up that way should definitely pack their fly rod.

Thanks for the report. It has been a long time since I chased the Bear Lake "Bonefish." Probably high school and back then I chased them with a bow.

Those must have been quite the battles. I caught maybe a 6lber on my 4wt while trout fishing this spring and that took me a good ten minutes. Sounds like a good time.

On a 4 weight. What a riot that would be. Where are the carp on Bear Lake? I have heard about them but the places I have been there I have never seen any.

It was incredible on a 4 wt. Luckily I had some 4x fluoro that held up pretty good. But I normally use a 6 or 7 wt up there on the lake. I just forgot it, so I had to use my small stream rod. Right now Bear Lake is still so high that you can find them everywhere in the shallows. The biggest ones though that I've caught over the years have been on the east side right in between the shallows and dropoffs. Every once in a while you'll hook into a cutthroat or stray laker but mostly carp.
