6 IDFG Salmon Access guides available
#1
Howdy, BFT Folks, two months ago we wrote an article about the very popular Access Guide produced by the IDFG Salmon Region Office. Greg Painter there really knocked one out of the park with that guide.

Anyway, two months there was some interest from BFT Folks in how to get one of the guides. IDFG isn't particularly interested in mailing them out because they cost as much to mail as they do to print.

We picked up six extra copies last week when we were up in in the Salmon Region. we'd be willing to mail a copy for $3. Postage is $1.90 and the extra $1.10 would cover the cost of the envelope, Paypal's pesky fee and some extra change for going to the Post Office. If you are interested, just go to the website and scroll down until you see the Paypal "Donate" button. Be sure to put in your name and mailing address.

Here's some thoughts on that guide. We ran into five different retailers who raved about the Access Guide. The guy at the North Fork store said they only had two copies and couldn't keep them in stock. He said, "They go out the door as fast as we can put them on the shelf." The other vendors said similar things. IDFG only printed another 2,000 of them so we're guessing they will be all gone either just before or just after fall steelhead season starts. If enough BFT Folks think this plan of mailing them out is OK, we will pick up some more during our August trip to Salmon Country. Right now six copies is all we have.

Note that we are NOT selling the guide. That would be illegal. It's a free publication to help the public better use The Salmon River. We are simply asking for a $3 donation to cover our costs of getting you a copy. That's all.

Anyway, it's going to be interesting to see how this experiment goes. Note that if you are going to be in Salmon Country yourself, keep an eye out for these guides and snag a copy or two yourself before they disappear again. We are keeping two copies--one to travel with and one to have as a backup if and when we lose the other copy or it gets too dog-eared to use.

Have a great day & Many Cheers. Happy Fishing, John Parsons, Idaho Falls
