Lake Mead (North End) 9-22-12
#1
The plan was to hit the same spot in the AM as we did last weekend and hit 'em up with the Topwater then go and hit the backwaters and chase the LMB the rest of the day since we haven't done that in a while. Smallies are just so simple to find and figure out it was time for a change... Our hot spot last weekend was pretty weak today and we only caught one Striper on Topwater and a couple Smallies so we moved on to the backwaters earlier than planned. Madi kept up with the Topwater for a while longer than I did and it paid off with the biggest fish of the day (LMB). The rest of the day was Squarebills, Spinnerbaits, Lipless, Texas rigged worms, etc.

In the end I killed her quantity wise for a change but she did end up with the two biggest LMB's of the day. 63 total caught. 27 LMB, 16 SMB and 20 Stripers. The Stripers was a boil around 3 or 4pm that came out of no where in a cove in Stewarts bay . Every cast a Striper. I couldn't get them off fast enough and back out there and another was one. Madi was swimming at the time and panicked to get back in the boat and a rod in her hand ASAP. lol

I met someone that reads BFT launching this morning. Didn't catch his name at all. I had already left the ramp and was messing around and he was behind me idling out so I yelled to go ahead and as he passed he asked if I was the one that posted alot and that was it. Red Tracker if I remember right. Hopefully he pops in on how he did.

A couple pics:

Quality! You're the man.

I don't know what I'm doing - I should be on the water right now.

That you should!

I have been pondering all day to take next weekend off and do yard work... Then I think about how good fishing has been lately. lol Fishing seems to trump yard work! Been doing yard work all day today and beat with plenty more to do. With the less than 100 degree weather and overcast not a bad day to do yard work.

Speaking of weather it was awesome all day Saturday on the lake. 1-2mph winds for the most part if that and overcast the entire day. Made sight fishing a little tougher but sure was a nice break from that sun.

Like the pink worm? Madi knew I had a bag of them and has been bugging me for a long time to try one. So I wacky rigged it on a Flicken' Shimmy Jighead and tossed it out there. Caught one in no time and put it down. Proved they worked and moved on. Not really a big bite set-up from what I seen in a short period. Lots of little ones chasing it and hitting on it.

Those are some nice looking fish. Mead was beautiful this weekend I was out there Thursday night till this afternoon. Fishing out of caville bay on a little aluminum pan fish boat I rented for the weekend from on base. Not nearly as high of numbers as you and Madi and not nearly as big but it was a beautiful weekend.

A fish is a fish! Those pesky 1 to 1.5lb Stripers sure can put up a crazy fight for their size. Not long lived but fun none the less on the right sized equipment.

I haven't launched out of Callville since... Maybe last year. Dunno, been a long time regardless. If it wasn't for that 1 mile long uphill walk up that ramp I might launch out of there more often. What a PITA. That and the only fising I liked out of there was up out of the narrows and that gets spendy on gas in the boat. I only fished near Callville a little bit so there is a whole bunch of areas that I haven't tried yet. Some day...

I was the one in the red tracker up at echo that morning. Got a few hours of fishing in before the motor quit on me (second time in 2 weeks). Caught about a dozen, mostly smb on topwater. A couple out deeper later in the morning. Nothing over 12 inches. Thanks wolfs4evr for keeping us all informed.

Another quality report. You guys sure do kill it out there. When I read your posts I always turn green like all the bass you catch. Green with envy, that is. Haha. Nice work! You should grab a bag of wave baits and clean house in the competition. [fishin]

They have some good looking stuff. Timing is off on that contest for me otherwise I would of given it a shot. Just didn't need to order anything and to make a order just for a couple bags of something and pay shipping, etc makes it not worth it.
