Pineview gonna ice up this year?
#1
Been wanting to hit PV on the hard deck. Heck been wanting to hit up anywhere on the hard deck. Think we'll get cold enough with this set of storms?

Anybody doing any good on the soft water so far?

I would expect to see ice on Pineview by mid January.
What worries me is that we may get a lot of wet snow on the ice, making travel on the ice tough.

I say this because of the warmer and wetter than normal winter that some are predicting for Northern Utah.

Has it ever not iced up? Pretty sure you'd be safe betting on ice by New years.

although it iced up last year it was spotty at best. one day you could go out then two days later you could make it out if you had a pair brass stones. Just observing it is a crazy year.

ya last year was wierd at the view, the spots near cemetary point were the last places to freeze there and it was sketchy, my old man actually took a quick bath in the frozen water last year up to his chest[crazy][crazy], kinda scary. But back to the ice i think it should be no problem freezing since the lake is alot lower than last year, its just might not be till the new year though, hopefully sooner.

I have no doubt PV will ice up...weather stays as predicted the next week or so probably have safe ice at least I'm hoping by the first of the year. Oh and safe ice to me is a good clear solid black ice of at least 4" plus. Folks I know up in the valley have been keeping me posted...no ice starting yet. Temps over the weekend were in the 20s...

FYSA Ogden Canyon is down to one lane as one starts up the canyon with lights. They're replacing the water pipe that is pushing 100 years old. So keep that in mind as you can be waiting for a bit in line. Drive carefully going up the canyon during this construction phase that is scheduled to run through Feb.

If one takes Trappers Loop no problems.
