I'am heading up to Scofield Saturday. Want to fish by the island but not sure on ice conditions. Just wondering if anyone has ventured out there on foot or ATV? Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I would not recomend a ATV, I recently read a report that said someone when through on there 4 wheeler. I would give it atleast one more week. As for around the Island I have heard that the middle is not very thick yet. But that was hearsay.

We fished the east side today and I concur that the ice is too thin to venture out to the island with an ATV or snowmobile. Didn't try hauling the ice tent that far. The fishing was good where we were.

we were there today 12/26, and walked about half way to the island before it became really slushy. It was about at the pressure crack. It was snowing when we left about noon so I'd say to be a little cautious. The ice was 5" thick but could change quickly. On the up note, we caught lots of cutts and a few bows. Didn't keep anything, we didn't want to mess with the little ones.
