Porcupine Koke on ice yet?
#1
Has anyone hit the pig and found ice safe to fish yet? I know I should have run out there, but stopped at Hyrum yesterday, but with the size of the average fish at Hyrum running about 10 inches this trip, I figured I just as well catch 10" Kokes next trip, if it's safe... thanks for the info... J

Bama drove up, but they didn't go down to the ice.
I think that'd HAVE to be a pack-light trip! I thought the Newton hike up was pretty deadly, I fear the Pig might kill me!

But - I'd sure like to try for Kokes on ice. Some deep water out there!
Gimme a shout out if you're gonna try - I'd be game, but not gonna try that one solo.
I'll give Hyrum another try next weekend. I still have hopes for some toads there. And some perch!

[ol][li]I'm thinking about trying it Friday but not sure, my fishing buddy is still in Texas on his holiday vacation. If not I may head farther North into Idaho and see if I can find some perch. The last time I fished Porcupine was several winters ago and the Kokes were lucky if they went 7 inches long. [fishin]

Hey BigBuck, did you plow the road up there last Friday? When we went up there in the morning it wasn't plowed but when we came back in the afternoon it was smooth sailing, once we got down to the bottom of the dam. Thanks, if that was you.
To all of you that have access to the R&R board, you can read my report there.

There's one spot that wouldn't be much of a strenuous hike. The first turn to the left after you cross over the cattle guard right past the dam is the easiest spot, unless you go all the way to the back.

I think you are correct that will be a tough hike. Maybe if we pack light and find the easiest spot it will be do able. I'm afraid a fish finder is necessary on that trip but I'd try to cutdown on everything else. I'll give you a call before I head out. Would probably be wise to not fish that one alone. Figure next weekend will probably be thick enough for me. This weekend is probably good to stay Hyrum. I may have some time this weekend that I wasn't planning on but not sure yet, I'll let you know. Later J
