pelican lake yesterday
#1
I picked up a friend of mine yesterday and we made the long trip down to pelican lake yesterday for our first trip.
We hit the ice about 8:45am at -17 below zero cold but the sun was popping out. we punched a few holes until we found some water that was 6 1/2' deep and my friend dropped in his flasher and Bam caught the first bluegill.

So we set up our ice shack and went to fishing. Soon the sun disapeared the fog set in and light breeze started up and it cooled off even more. The fishing was steady but not like it has been in years past fast and furious just steady but it kept us busy and lots of fun for sure.

We caught all our bass and bluegills on my custom plastics I make and some new ones im making now.

The bluegills were from 5" to 9" with the most averaging 7".
Then we got into some bass to. The bass were 10" up to 14" nice and fat like the bluegills and gave me a great fight on 4lb test for me. Then my friend showed me how it was done with his 2lb test[shocked] on a custom panfish ice rod with a 13" largemouth bass and some nice bluegills to. I have ever fished with 2lb test but im looking at getting me some to try out.

The lake is the lowest i have ever seen ice fishing but still a fun time we will go back and explore some different places on the lake soon. I snapped a couple cool pictures of the great sunset to
Good Luck on your ice fishing adventures [fishin]

Great report, glad to hear some good news from Pelican., most reports haven't been too positive. We are planning on getting over there at least once. On a side note.... I don't think it ever gets above zero there!
