I have read that the ice is safe at Lost Dog. Does anyone know if it is now safe down towards Buckboard Marina?

A fellow at work said that on his way out of lost dog that he could see people out on the ice by buckboard.

Couldn't tell you how thick the ice was though. On a side note I slapped some new blades on that auger and it blazes through the ice like no tomorrow. Thanks again. [signature]

It never cut like I thought it should when it was new (probably drilled less than a dozen holes with it). After reading different threads on it, I was quite certain that new blades (not made in China) would make a huge difference. Glad it is working out for you. [signature]

I was up there on Sunday and fished on 3-4 inches near Lowe Canyon. The ice sheet ended below Brinegar Ranch, with a mix of open water and ice to Anvil, and then ice starting again down near the Pipeline. I saw guys fishing uplake and downlake from me too.

Drilling the first few holes made me real nervous because it went through so fast I figured the ice was only a couple of inches instead of the five that I was standing on. [

We fished below the confluence on Tuesday Jan 8 - good action with macs and rainbows. 6" of ice all the way across the bay.

Fished the bays & main channel north of buckboard today Jan 9 - VERY slow, didn't even see that many on the finder. 5" of ice over the main channel and in the bays. Fished Buckboard bay (just inside) tonight and for an hour after dark it was very hot for macs and burbot. 4" of ice. Saw 4 tents over the main channel just outside the bay yesterday. Looks like the ice is good & solid down to at least Buckboard. All together, couple good days of fishing - the usual glow & sucker meat. Saw very few folks on the ice.

So ice is good, but what about road access after this next storm rolls through. Are any of those forest roads plowed?

Fished Holmes Crossing 1/10 ice 3-3.5". Ice extended south for 1/2 mile. Some ice south of Anvil to pipeline. Fished buckboard in afternoon. 5" good clear ice. Brutal wind with the low pressure coming in. Slow fishing. Landed one smaill pup 3lbs. Imagine after the cold period on its way this weekend into next week ice will be much better through anvil.
