Rockport rainbows/ counting idea
#1
Started early, 1-13-13amongest the first people on the ice. Headlights blazing and augers roaring.(well not me I had a hand auger). Drilled one hole.....11 ft. I didn't like it, continued out another 100 yards...12 ft. (That's it!) Oh well fished it anyway. Right away a bite and a fish, but I missed it at the hole. Got back down hooked another. Landed it and this was the story all day. Steady bite on a pink Gitzit- tipped with shrimp. No need for the second pole, I was content with one.
Caught 29 rainbows, managed to get one up that measured 17 inches. A couple weeks ago while fishing at Schofield, and catching alot I came up with the idea to use my line counter as an ice fishing counter. A rubber band works great to spin around when a fish is caught. And its easy to hang in the tent.

Strong work Lead Blood! Good post and better fishing! We struggled today at the Rock. Didn't smell like skunk when we left but a tough day. Conrgats on figuring out the bite[Smile]

Nice Catch. Good to hear someone did good out there. I fished with a group of 4 others and after 7 hours and over 30 holes, from 10'-42', we all left reeking of skunk. Only marked one fish all day and it was a Carp about 3' under the ice.

Thanks The Red Leaker. Wow your right about how cold it was today. I fished Rockport ice about seven times last year, and was either skunked or only caught 3-4 all day. I just had a good day and wanted to post.[crazy]
