We spent last weekend at Fish Lake. The fishing was slowest I've ever seen it there. Some jerk drilled 3 holes connected together and stuffed a bunch of litter in it before leaving. One of my friends fell in this hole and about broke his leg. All of the garbage popped up on the snow after he lifted his water soaked leg out. We fished deeper waters hoping for some macs. We caught mostly rainbows and a handful of splake. Here is pvcdbk with his rainbow.

I caught the only mac in 92 feet of water.

All in all it was a good time.

I was there also over the weekend. Fishing was slooooow. Ice is plenty thick, I measured up to 15" in most areas. As for snow there was about 5-6" with some slush. There could be more now, or less if the wind was blowing--the wind is made down there in that country.
Good luck this weekend!

It was the full moon over Sat/Sun this last weekend. There have been several discussions about the full moons negative effect on fishing. I am not sure on all waters, but in my limited experience on FL, the full moon generally produces slower fishing.

I'm intrigued by this. Let's discuss it.
My personal theory is that during full moons there is more light during the night, and thus the fish actively feed more during full moons. This would cause them to not be as active during the day, and cause slower fishing.
when ice caps the lake, and snow falls on top of the ice, wouldn't the lake below the snow-capped ice be fairly dark day and night? so, how would a full, or crescent, or half, or no moon affect this?
curious minds want to know.

I fished Fishlakemthis weekend and I would say it was pretty slow as well, but I would blame the slow trout fishing on the overabundance of perch rather than the full moon. This year has been disappointing for trout at Fishlake in my opinion.

Does the full moon effect ICE fishing? I know in warmer months, full moon generates more NIGHT food, but what is there under ice?

my own personal experience is that this year has just been a slow year up there (so far). I can't really say one way or another on moon phases and ice fishing.
However, I think I might be able to dig something up that could really shine some light on the subject. Let me see what I can find...

Really cause we had people not catch a single fish that whole weekend. Also remind me how many fish you caught on Saturday? If I remember right it was 1 but I think it could have been less than that.
