The guys at work put a wager on a fishing outing this weekend to Starvation with me. They mentioned that it would be near impossible for me to outfish them. I need some fishing tips from my bft bro's to help me to win. I have never fished that place. I suppose paddle bugs with mealworms may work or ratfinkies. Let me know if you have a trick on catching some trout Thanks a bunch..

Almost 600 views an not one attempt to help. Everyone must think it would be unfair to your buddies to help you in this challenge[:p]. Anyway I haven't actually been to Starvation yet this winter but from past experience there here's my simple advice.
Starvation is a big lake and trout can be hard to locate. Get there early, be attentive to your fishing, try lots of different things, different depths, until something works. Do a search on BFT and you will find lots of fairly recent info on what others have found this year. I usually fish Rabbit Gulch and have done decent. Others seem to like the easy and free access at the Hwy 40 bridge and they seem to catch plenty of trout there. These trout seem to like to suspend over deep water (20-60'+) so fish the entire water column and use your electronics if you have them. Try up next to steep points and out on the flats. Two rods are nice to try different depths. I've caught them from just under the ice down to the bottom.
I like tube jigs 2.5" to 3.5" in whites and crayfish colors. Curlytails, marabous, paddlebugs, Maniac lures etc. all should work too. Spoons and other teardrop type lures will work too. Some days deadstick is the way to go and others more active jigging works well. Tipping with bait is optional, worms, spikes, wax worms, meal worms, dead minnows, perch meat, PB can all be good.

Went out there last weekend. It has slowed down a lot since first-ice (that might seem obvious). If you have electronics, it will help locate suspended trout. We have been out in a few areas by the damn and the highway bridge. You can usually locating perch south of the bridge in about 40-50 feet (at the bottom). I would say that there are particular jigs that work better than others. I have found that if you locate the fish, they'll your typical rigs and bait. I have seen that dead sticking works better. I use a Jaw Jacker and that has caught more fish than me jigging.

Thanks guys for the info. I will be heading up there Saturday morning with 11 of my buddies and coworkers from utah county and weber county. But they are all conspiring together against me. I guess I'll head over to sportsmans and get some ants and some jigs.

Big fat skunk at Rabbit Gulch for me. 10 of us went and only 8 fish were caught in 7 hours of fishing. Moved shallow and deep and fish were few and far between about one an hour. So I stopped at Strawberry Ladders and I got some redemption and caught 9 rainbows in 2 hours.
