so after work i wanted to go out to east canyon for some late evening/night fishing. I got to the lake at about 6 and didnt get set up til about 6:30. I was fishing in about 45 fow and had the fish finder set up. As soon as i dropped my line in fish came out of nowhere and were all over the screen. next thing i know both of my poles were hitting the water. I managed to hook both of them at the same time and reel in one with the other between my legs. First fish of the night was about a 10 in bow. Once i brought him up i reeled in my other pole and to my surprise It was a HUGE crappie..( 13 in crappie is big for me) I didnt even know there were crappie in there. I had action all night between 20 and 35 fow and also caught one more small crappie. I wish i had pictures i could post but I only had my phone with me. I caught 10 trout and 2 crappie in about an hour in a half biggest was that crappie at 13" nothing but small bows for the trout. It was pretty fun but scary in the pitch black out there with only a lantern. Im just glad I caught some fish at that time of night.

I had no idea there that many species of fish in East Canyon. That makes it even more of a fun place to fish!

Alot of those are bucket biologist plants. SMB & Crappie are both via the bucket route. East Canyon was one of the water that DWR was using as a brood for Kokes, but that got pretty much destroyed by the illeagle intros !! when I mean brood, they collected eggs and milt to hatch out and restock in other areas.

But Cliff said the DNR planted the bass[:/]. A couple of years back, one of the members reported finding dead baby channel cat along the shore there but I've never heard of anyone catching any.
