Good luck I think that I might take my daughter up that way just for a drive maybe do a little fishing if the water looks ok. Let us know how the fishing is!

I'm still pretty new to fly fishing on rivers but I felt pretty good pulling this in after only fishing for about five minutes.. Problem is it was even more frustrating when i couldn't get another bite all morning or afternoon. It was a beautiful day though and it was nice to get out for awhile. I have only caught one other brown trout before. Was I correct in thinking that this is a brown trout?

Yup that be a brown. Spent a lot of time fishing that river year round for the last ten years and a few things I have found.
Is the fish are pretty sensative to fishing pres. The difference between catching and nothing is practicing good wading habits. I am talking sneak up and and be very easy with no splashing around when wadding. Sloppy slappy fly casting with short leaders will put fish down when the water is low and clear. If you are throwing drys when you pick a size you think is right put it back in the box and go next size smaller. You will catch more fish doing those few things up there. Best time to fish that place I feel is when there is a little murk to the water in the spring prior to full blown run off. Some awesome BWO hatches in april and may that fish better than any other hatch all year.

hmm thanks for the advice.. i was throwing some streamers but my current rod doesnt cast heavier flys well so i suppose the sloppy casts and such didnt help much. Im used to still water where it your casts aren't as important.

A little different then, not sure how new you are to that area. Pm me with any questions on places up there. Prior to graduating I would fish it at least once a week and in the summer 2-3 times a week.

Here a few years back, I was above the cable, above Hiese, was about twenty feet off the shore, I backcast and hooked into the bushes. When I looked over there it wasn't the bushes that I had hooked but a fish and game officer with a welding glove on. He had reached into the air grabbed my line, and checked my fly to make sure it was barbless. Opps, and Ouch, $50 dollar fine. Lesson well learned, when changing flies often don't forget to bend back. By the way, do you still have to bend back those barbs on the South?

It isn't barbless only anymore. As the sign said, just recommended now.

That's what I thought. I couldn't find anywhere in the regs that it was required. Had me worrying a bit there that I was breaking a law.
