Have tomorrow off work so I wanted to do a little fishing and riding. I’m thinking I’d rather hit Pine View yearly morning for some perch action then up to Monte to get my snow fix but I was worried about the edges. Last time I was up there it was a slush monster bad!! Anybody been up in the last day or two that could give ice and slush details or should I make the long drive up to Strawberry? Thanks for any info on either location!!!!

Strawberry has treated me well the past few weeks. Sounds like you got a sled, eh? GOOD! Send me a PM if you want some good spots to hit with your machine.
I can't speak for Pineview [blush].
We are headed to Strawberry on Saturday, if you go tomorrow let me know how ya do.

Yep we’ll both be on sleds if we go to the berry. Planned on just walking out if we go to Pine View, then going riding after from there.

Sure would love to hear from any perch hounds out there on the View. Just looking for ice conditions.

I live by PV and watch it every day. Fished it last week and ice is fine. Water level has risen a bit the last couple of weeks, so edges can be a little thin. I broke through about a foot from shore into 4" of water, late afternoon time. But nights have been very cold this week (single digits or less), so I suspect edges are solid again. Main ice is still a good 20" thick. Tons of dink perch constantly harassing your bait, once you find them. Biggest one I iced was about 8", and those were hard to come by. Haven't been able to locate the bigger ones yet this year, or the Crappie...

Fished pineview yesterday, ice is thick and the edges are really solid. There is about 3" or so of new snow on top and at least 17" of ice. Caught all perch and the biggest was 9.5"...it looked like a monster next to the rest of them. I was on the North side of Cemetary Point. Hope that helps.
As far as sledding, I heard from a few guys that Monte doesn't have a TON of snow. Still plenty enough to ride I'm sure though. Just an fyi. Have fun!

Fished PV again this evening, just for 1-1/2 after work. Non-stop action for the little perchies. Gave up trying to use two rods because couldn't keep up with them both. As soon as jig neared bottom the spring bobber would start tapping. 30 seconds was a long time to wait between bites. Nearly every time I was reeling one in, the other rod would be tipping at the same time. Too bad nothing over 7" though.
