Strawberry 3/2
#1
Fished strawberry bay on Saturday. the weather was amazing, the fishing was not, fished with a group of 12 people we only caught 7 fish in 6 hrs of fishing. Even with the warm weather there was very little slush and the edges were still solid.

I was on the ice at 7 am and we were out from the marina about 300 yards or so.

I was in a group of three and we walked from the ladders to the island. We were feeling ambitious. Fished from about 7:30 to 11:00 and only caught ten fish. We nearly died walking that far and then we nearly died again trying to punch through the 18 or so inches of ice. Also, be wiser than us and take out some sunscreen with you. The nice weather has one downside: it fries your face up nice and quick.

OH YES! We all got fried. My wife has been on my backside about the importance of sunscreen since yesterday. We parked at that pullout just past the ladders yesterday. We caught 5 fish out of 9 people. All the fish were caught right on the bottom, barely a crank off. They were hitting a white head and solid lime colored or all white paddle bugs tipped with meal worms. My eyes are almost swollen shut due to the burn.

Too funny. I was at the ladders Saturday with BIGbites (my 14 year-old son) and just read this thread to him. We fished from 1030 - 5:00. I caught three and BIGbites caught three fish and a major sunburn. I told him several times he needed to sunscreen up but every time he refused. I told him he was going to end up red-faced and miserable. Dad was right. It was unbelievable nice weather. A great day out on the ice, fresh warm air and sunburns for many, it sounds like.

I fished that area too on Sunday and only had 4 fish landed between two people all day. Glad to hear it wasn't just slow for us.
