Flaming Gorge
#1
Headed up to the property in Manilla for the weekend probably taking off Thursday night coming back Sunday, I have heard that the lucerne side is now all open water and ice is still around swim beach up to the pipe line so it is going to be a Auger/Pontoon kind of weekend. Anybody have updates on Ice conditions?

Alot of the reservoir is opening up but here's what I know as of 3/11/13.

Ice conditions are changing rapidly and with wind in the forecast the next couple of days and warming temps this week, it will only get more rapid. As of yesterday, the Cedar Springs and Mustang launches are open and dry. There's some ice in the backs of bays downlake, but it's pretty thin. There was also some ice forming in calm portions of the reservoir up to Skull Creek, but it's probably gone by now.

Lucerne launch is open. Antelope Flat is close, but there's about 75-100 ft of ice hanging on right in front of the ramp. The wind is blowing 20-30 mph today and breaking it up pretty quick. I suspect it's shortlived. There's still some ice in the backs of Linwood, Jug Hollow, and Spring Creek. I could also see some ice up the Pipeline canyon.

Hope that helps some, Ryno

I just came off the water at Lucerne. Can't get to the pipeline, or down the canyon yet due to ice. Linwood is about 1/2 open. Swim wide open. East side wide open except for the ice in front of Antelope that Ryno referred to. Still can't get up or down he lake from Sheep Creek ramp. Only that small bay is open. Wind is gale force now, so things can change quickly. Saw a couple of ice bergs floating from west to east out of Linwood in the tsunami.
