DC & BP
#1
I fished bountiful pond yesterday (3/14) from the shore on the south side. The pond is 75% ice free. I put 12 anter bows to the shore in 90 minutes in blue fox spinners.

Fished at DC with a buddy in float tubes at the charleston end. We caught four planter bows in 2.5 hrs, all on spinners as well. Didn't get a nite on tubes or cranks. 90% of the lake is still iced. The mud have been fifty people fishing around the wallsburg inlet. Weather was gorgeous. We were sweating kicking around against the wind that came up.

+1 Not that it really matters as I am going no matter what...LOL But a heads up is always a plus.

As I usually put the boat in on one of the main ramps, I'm not the most reliable source, but there were small aluminum boats (10' to even a 15" trihull fiberglass that launched) getting in and out no problem. The water is high enough that the island is an island. Maybe an 60 yard walk from the restrooms there to the waters edge.

Was down there today andthe lake is about 10' from being full.

The funny thing is that while Deer Creek is filling it looks like Jordanelle is dropping.

They are getting ready for the runoff so they are letting a lot of water out of Jordanelle.

[#0000FF][cool]Thanks. They seem to work it that way most years. They drain Jordanelle into DC to keep plenty of runoff capacity upstream. Helps Deer Creek but doesn't do Jordanelle much good...especially when the perch are spawning.

We gotta get together and gang up on some of those crappies you were smacking last year. We need to do our part in reducing the invasive species in DC.

The faster that they get Deer Creek full the better in my opinion. [Smile]

I just hope that it stays at full pool for more than a couple of weeks like it did last year. I was just getting into putting the annual smackdown on the walleye when they let that big flow out for the junies and it dried up all of my favorite spots. [frown]

We absolutely have to get together and work over multipule species in that lake.

If those crappie made it through the winter with a good food supply they should be up over the footer mark by now. [fishin]

ah yeah the crappies should be getting in that 12 inch size hopefully cause they were all 9 to 10 inchers last spring. first year ive ever got crappie out of deer creek aswell. also get all those damn mudcats out of there, caught as many mudcats as perch one day jigging in my tube.

So it sounds like the north end of DC is ice free? I usually fish from shore near the island, but I know there are some pullouts between the island and where the Charleston Rd comes in to 189. Are those areas open?

Ther were some people fishing open water between the highway and the island on Saturday but with the wind out of the north yesterday it may have cover it back up again. The other spots along the highway were locked up with ice blown in by the wind when I went by yesterday.

Looking at the lake view camera there are some spots opening up off to the right of the ramp. [Smile]
