I like to start our every spring with my yearly tradition of getting skunked at Nine Mile reservoir. One thing is for sure I can always count on the fishing at Nine Mile to be consistent. Slow to very slow fishing. I did scare up a jack rabbit on my walk around the shore. There is rabbit droppings all over the place out there.

From what I could see the entire reservoir is open water. I didn't get a single bite but I might go back there this weekend again.

I have never been skunked there.
I fish it from a kick boat with the usual collection of crystal buggers.
A really good color this time last year was copper/brown.

I used minnows on one rod and the other rod I used spinners and pointers. The whole reservoir is only around 20 feet deep in the deepest areas. Most of the fish I've caught there in the past were farther out from the shore. The fishing is always slow but the rainbows get pretty fat there. So when you do catch one its usually a good size.

I do really well there with midges & nymphs. I have some awesome days fishing there & those rainbows get super fat!! The water is really murky right now (& it's also freeeeezing outside), but I'm going to check it out tmw regardless.

Gosh that place looks amazing to be in a float tube with a fly rod [crazy]. Might give it a shot when school is over[angelic].

Ha ha ha cold water [laugh]. I just put tons of layers on. I'm just surprised the water is warmer now then it was in November especially when I was float tubing in February[crazy].
Good luck on some nice bow and tiger hunting

When ever I go fishing on soft water I always bring my float tube I don't care how the water temperature is, just got too put tons of layers on. As well I love using woolly buggers, minnows, leeches, and crawdad patters with a nice heavy sinking line to find the big fish [cool].
At least your caught a few fish instead of getting skunked [cool].
I shall see how Deer creek will treat me for 4 days starting tomorrow ha ha ha. Might Have to hit nine mile some day.
FISH ON!!! [angelic]

I'll bet it's already turned over. Once it's over 39° the warmest water is on the surface and the cooler water is deeper. So, if it is over 39° on the surface, the next turnover is in the fall.

Sucks you got skunked. That place can be really fickle.
If the fishing sucks there, it's almost guaranteed that you can catch some dinks across 89 in the little pond, sometimes a fatty will hang out too.
I've never done well there from a tube though, with flies, hardware, or bait. I'd like to change that.

I think there was a big Tiger caught there. That was before everybody on the internet knew where it was and what was in there. [crazy]

From Salt Lake you take the 3rd exit in Nephi towards Levan/Gunnison. Head towards Gunnison Once you get there you can see the prison take that road. Follow it for ten minutes.

Ha, Great!
I was just coming on here to ask if 9 mile was still frozen or not. Any idea if Yuba is open? I assume it is but you never know. Going to take a trip down to my folks in Fayette this weekend and am wanting to get some fishing in.
