upper upper Salmon Steelhead last Tuesday

Fished a hole in the stretch between Challis and Stanley, and got 3 fish in 3 hours, all on soft plastic egg patterns. Two were with fly gear in the bottom of deep, deep holes, the other bottom bouncing with spinning gear in a ripple run.

Kept these two for the smoker as you can see. the other was a gorgeous native (a genuine one as far as I could tell) that I released as soon as I could get his face close enough to slip the hook out of his jaw.

All three were males. This bigger one was only 27 inches, but was extremely deep and wide, and ran into fast current instantly and nearly kicked my butt. The cork in my flyrod handle actually seperated during the fight and now I'm gorrilla gluing back into shape.

I just got done smoking same sgeelies from near challis as well. Turned out delicious!
