Has anyone been out trying for walleyes on the bear river yet? I am hoping to go tomorrow and try for them now that we are getting some warmer weather. I went out past the Benson marina on Sunday and there were quite a few people fishing for cats along the rocks by the bridge so that may be another option too

I want to try them, but haven't made it out yet. Looks like the ice is all gone so I hope the fishing will start picking up soon. Good luck and I may run into you out there this weekend. Later J

That's good news that they are taking something this time of year. After all the snag stories I wasn't crazy to go after them. Sort of like Alaska salmon. They are a blast when they take it, but not so much fun when ya have to drift it into their mouths to hook them. Guess I want the fun more than the food. Thanks again. J

For sure. My favorite thing to use is a night crawler on a circle hook sprayed wiht wd40. My biggest one to date was a 26" on the bear in logan. I lost 4 different worm setups to this one before I finally hooked him. I was using a 3 ounce sinker on 12 pound mono on a bait casting reel and I actually felt him take the worm as the weight was bouncing across the bottom of the river.

At first I used to catch most of my walleye's on nightcrawlers and I still really like them, but I've been doing better with jigs and trolling the last two years. I'm still a long ways from knowing what I'm doing but I have been able to catch them fairly often when I go after them. Which is better than my accidental catches from before. That one you got sounds like a nice fish. That's fun when you get one that big. I hope to get out after them soon, think I'd like to try some fish tacos. Good luck. J

I thought they all headed to Idaho to spawn at the lamborn diversion or something like that.

I don't know where they are this time of year. My success has been post spawn (May) through November. I'm trying to learn ice and spawn habits but so far I haven't figured them out. Probably because they leave my traditional fishing spots this time of year. But I'll keep trying. Later J

Where about in Corrine do you go for the walleyes? I have been on the river there off of the corrine exit that you take to go to the walmart warehouse. I usually go to the launch ramp that is just to the south of the train tracks and gas station but I have only caught carp and small channel cats.

Surprised the WD comment didn't go viral! teehee
I've not explored the Corinne area, but have wanted to, that and the Refuge business. Maybe this year I'll drag my flat bottom down there . . so far the northern end below Cutler has been chill for me anyway.
Might have to try above the dam next out!
I know some of our mad catters do some wicked carp/cat catching out on that refuge later into the summer. Would love to learn the 'weirding way' of the 'fuge!
