Grantsville and Settlement Res's, oh and new to the forum
#1
Figured it's time I paid my dues and joined the forum. Love all the great posts here.
So I have some time to kill while in the great land of Tooele next Monday (4-8) and noticed settlement and grantsville reservoirs nearby. Anyone willing to give me any pointers on them?
Much appreciated.

2 weekends ago I went to Grantsville and fished with power bait, a couple different spinners, and some flies and didn't have a bite in about 3 hours. I cruised up to Settlement and caught about 15 small rainbows in about an hour on power bait and flies.

I hit G-ville with my twin on Sunday and it sucked. We each lost a fish. I was trolling with my pontoon and my twin was in an un-motorized float tube.

Welcome to BFT. I usually fish grantsville from my pontoon and troll small lures like a jakes or maybe a z-ray. Small wooly buggers fished with a fly rod and sinking line can also be fun for browns and 14" holdover bows. A night crawler dead drifted with no weight is also a good bet. The smallies are worth catching and keeping once the water warms up. I've always done best from a tube or toon there. Believe it or not, it Can be peaceful once you get out on the water and away from the weekend madness near the shore!

Settlement has been good for 8" rainbows and lots of em. Took my 4 yr old after work a couple weeks back, and caught a bunch on ice fishing left overs. meal worms and a piece of a marshmallow.

LOL that is exactly what I was using/doing![Smile]

My twin lost a good brown right at his flippers while vertical jigging from the tube. No different than ice fishing for trout.

Awesome! Exactly what I wanted to hear (well besides grantsville res being a bit stubborn). I'll have my two little boys and fortunately they don't care how big the fish are.
They'll / I'll just be happy to get into some, it's been a while. I think my 7 year old thinks I've forgotten how to catch fish, haha.
Thanks guys,

That's crazy. Last spring the holdover rainbows wouldn't leave the jakes and z-rays alone. G-ville was drawn down to nothing more than a pond last fall, so I've been a little skeptical about how well the fish wintered. 20 fow was about the deepest spot I could find last fall, when full it's 50 plus.
