[left]When i talked to the owner last friday he said he was closing all of it from mile marker 19 to 21 cause he found 6 tvs shot up and a couple computer screens. He made it sound like he wasnt going to let anyone out there again.... you can go down the other road but you cant park near the water or else you will get a ticket for being on sovereign land is what he was saying.. he was just sitting out there in his older dodge pick up with binoculars staring at people from his truck i think calling the police when people where going on his land... Sucks i really like it out there!

That's why the owner should of set up hidden cameras too catch those stupid fools that got no life and just got to shoot monitors and tv. [mad] I was thinking of hitting that part of utah lake for once but not anymore unless it opens.
I hate people that cant respect other people property. As well I hope people who fish jordan river pick up there boxes of beer cans because last time I was on the river I saw garbage bags of beer cans. It less heavy too carry all the empty containers then full. I HATE STUPID PEOPLE!!! Just might have to upload some trashy picture of Jordan river now ha ha ha. [signature]

[#0000FF]All of the land on both sides of Hwy 68 (Redwood Rd) is now posted against public use from about Pelican Point to the Knolls. There are several landowners involved in the closure...including the LDS church.
The DWR Springville office has been negotiating with the land owners and the Utah County commissioners to try to work out at least limited access...in return for some road work and free fencing, etc. So far the negotiations are cordial and there is reason for hope. But these things take time...dang it. I miss the Knolls. [/#0000FF] [signature]

[left]I just started going there last year, and it was really good to me i bought a truck just cause the roads were a little rough for my car! The guy just seemed to be an ass about it to when we went to talk to him like we were the problem when all of the things that made him close it down were the people shooting... Sad start to the fishing season at utah lake!

[cool][#0000FF]That has been the history of Utah Lake...the good fishing spots (like Lincoln Beach) being closed by private land owners because of the wanton and careless actions of a few. Trashing, vandalism and errant gunfire cause a lot of damage and expense. Plus, the private landowners are legally liable for injuries or loss sustained by the public if they are using the land by permission of the land owner...or not. In our modern sue-happy society that can be a big consideration.
The "man on the hill" at the Knolls has good cause to be upset. You wouldn't believe all the stuff that people have brought in and dumped on his property. In one of my posts last year I included pics of an abandoned boat that had been left there. That was about the time all of the new posted signs started showing up. And it finally extended to all public access. That land owner has also repeatedly had his stock fences cut...by folks hiking across his posted property to fish illegally on his property. He has had valuable cattle escape as well as having a few get shot...with bullets and with arrows. That would get my blood pressure going. Since that is private property, it is not patrolled by county officers (sheriffs). They will respond if their is a complaint call, but usually by the time they show up the problem no longer exists and the perpetrators have boogied. I am still optimistic that we will be able to work out some kind of compromise...with at least limited access to the public. Let's all join hands and do the Knolls dance. [/#0000FF] [signature]

I've only fished the Knolls for a couple of years and I have to admit I don't blame the guy. In the limited number of times I've been there it is the rule and not the exception to find folks inside his property, making a mess, and showing no respect for the area. It's unfortunate for those who care about the area and try to be good stewards of the land, but I don't blame the owner one bit.

You can fish there, you just have to come in from the lake rather than the land. Easy run from Lincoln beach or Pelican Bay !!

If you have a boat.
A tube would be another story. [signature]
