Was out again yesterday and still all locked up. You bring your butt within three hundred feet of the buoys and you're getting harassed by the fish cops. They don't even want you bringing wakes past the buoys because they're afraid it's going to disturb the cleanup project.

The larger of the two signs was just posted yesterday.

Just got back from the north marina, it's still closed and haven't heard anything about when it will open up. Even the area where you could park and walk out the north dike is closed.

Per the DWR Fishing Reports webpage dated 04/04:

"You can still access the north dike by taking the dirt road north of the State Park entrance gate back to the outlet gate. This can be a good area for springtime wiper fishing. The south marina is also open, and you can launch a boat. Some wipers and crappie were caught this week near the south dike."

I thought the beaver saved the day on the diesel spill, or just more BS they try to feed the public?

That I can't say for sure. I know that I didn't see any oil slicks on the water, but then again I was 200 feet from the buoys when I got lit up with red and blue lights. I was just out looking through the binoculars and taken video, doing ahout two MPH minding my own business when he came and talked to me. What I thought was almost laughable was when he told me that I had to keep it under wake speed yet he ran up on me doing 20 plus MPH only 20 feet from the buoys throwing a huge wake well beyond the buoys. Do as I say not as I do I guess.[:/]

I have friends that work at several of the state parks, they are great guys, I've always thought the ones at Willard other than one that was a BFT member were a joke.

there should still be access to the north dikes. instead of stopping by the closed gates make a right and drive down the dirt road to where the pump outlet is at and park over there and walk across and over to the dikes

Not sure if anybody else watched channel 2 news tonight but they finally let the news stations in to report on the diesel spill in the N marina. There is still 70 barrels left to clean up and it has made its way into the bay. They said the N marina will be closed for some time and the cleanup effort will most likely go past Memorial weekend.

Sounds like the S marinas going to be hopping busy place this year.[Sad]

Yep but this was the first report that validated and come right out to say that the fuel made its way into the bay. If an estimated 600 barrels was lost and they’ve recovered 400 with an additional 70 to go that means 130 barrels will be left or unrecoverable. At 42 gallons per barrel, that’s 5460 gallons of diesel left for our fishy friends and water fowl to work out. Major bummer! KSL report doesn’t go into as much detail as what I saw last night on channel two.

ya 2 news was a little better on info, thats no good that it got in the bay, hope there are no longterm or shorterm affects on the wildlife.
I know that has sure put a damper on a few fishing plans this spring for some folks. You would think that after 3 fuel leaks in the past 3 years that chevron could get it right.[frown]

Perhaps it's time for Chevron to start replacing the old week piping.
How many more leaks are they willing to let happen before they become proactive?

Yeah no harassment this year. With less crappie being taken they may have a great spawn this year.
