lake Powell
#1
So with spring break last week a buddy andIi took the boys down for our first ever trip to the big water. Pulled into bullfrog about 1300 monday and as soon as we could get camp set up and boat inspected(Joke) we were on the water.

Looked at the map and picked a spot and after 15 min had the first striper in the boat only one all week. Striper fishing was poor and only seen a handfull at the cleaning station all week.

Tue, we headed up lake and as far back in as we could go. caught a bunch of bass and a few walleye.

Wed, we headed to good hope in search of the stripers and spent 5 hrs trolling around with nothing to show. Headed to the back of the canyon and scored some nice crappie ad a bunch more bass. and a few more walleye.

Thur, Fishing was so good up in good hope we headed back and did just as good maybe even better.

Fri, We packed up camp cked out and got on the water and hit some close canyons that everyone told us to go to NO JOY...
went with gut and changed location and started catching fish.
Pulled out around 1500 and headed home with some good memories. I will be back..............

water 55-62
clear- 2 in vis
spinnerbaits, jigs and gulp minnows as well as gulp leeches with lindy rigs worked well.

You got some good bass and crappie their. Thanks for the report im heading down in two weeks. Plan on heading from bullfrog to camp at good hope, we always have the best fishing around good hope. Was their any brush to fish or is it all high and dry? Spent my whole life not ever missing a trip or three to Lake Powell A year. Can never get enough of that place.

Looks like a decent trip, was there any size to the eyes? Some of those crappie look like a respectable size[Smile]. Make sure you clean that boat before you bring it up to Willard, I'd hate it if those mussles spread to another body of water. Did you get your boat fixed before you made the trip down?

the walleye we caught early in the week were about 3# but nothing smaller than 2# and the crappie average was 1.5# it was a blast and a few of those crappie would slam the bait hard. this next week they should really be on fire. I did not take my boat down this time, maybe next time.

I'm jealous, sounds like you had a great trip. Powell is one of my favorite places, hope to get down soon. Great that you shared it with your son.

Yes it was a good time. Don't know if you remember my boy from the sport show but he was on crutches and had a cast on his leg. He definitely had his sea legs on and doing good.

Looks like a fantastic trip! Can't wait until my kids are just a little bit older to take them on trips like that.
