Utah lake Cats
#1
I launched at Mud Lake saturday and headed north just checking out the shallows for carp. when I got the the Lindon area the search was still on and I thought I better just hang out down south. Between Provo Bay and the Spanish Fork river inlet I ran my boat into a island of fragmites and tossed a couple of lines into about 18 inches of water baited with a piece of minnow and a night crawler. 16 channel cats (2 to 4 pounds) later I was blown off the lake by a squal. I kept 4 for the dinner table and the rest will be for another day. Looks like fishing season is finally here. On the way in I talked to a lady fishing in a small boat she claimed they caught a 20 lb channel out in the bay earlier this week.

I am starting to think I need to eat some fish. How was the depth in the main open area in mud. I have only gone to UL targeting walleye so far.

its fairly deep in the main channel and the launch. Ive seen a few bass boats launch from there. Provo bay is deep enough some skiers were out there the other day in a big ski boat. as long as you stay away from the frags its 3 or so feet deep but the edges shallow up rapidly and I had my boat stuck the other day, which is no easy feat, and had to get out and drag it around to get going again.
