Hey there guys,
With the Winter season hitting the saltwater scene, I figured that an introduction to individual county, city, and privately run (pay-to-fish) lakes might be in order.
I'll focus on the lakes often planted with catfish and trout by the DFG initially then move on to others. Building on this, as time permits, lake information will be entered in the form of a reply to this initial post.
To make everyone's searching easier, please refrain from replying to the archive 'itself', but all questions are welcome through a PM, an original post here or our other applicable boards.
For your convenience, each time a new lake's info is added its name will be added to the list below. Hopefully, this series will encourage more anglers to get out there and fish.

Hansen Dam (Recreational Area)
FLOAT TUBING, 1-2 MAN RAFTS, CANOES, AND EVEN ELECTRIC MOTORS ARE ALLOWED!!!
General Location: Enlarged Print Thomas Guide pp 502, 91040-G-1 or parking lot location (11798 Foothill Blvd. in Lake View Terrace) is near the intersection of Osborne St. and Foothill Blvd. with access the large lot via Stonehurst Ave.) TubeN2 has mentioned that the parking lot for the fishing lake is actually just around the corner from the lot mentioned here. Convienient from I-210.
Size: 9 acre fishing lake (adjacent to smaller 1.5 acre swimming lake)
Open: Year-round, Entrance- Free, Daylight hours with NO overnight parking.
Parking: Free, 400+ spaces.
Fishing: Free, Requires fishing license (DFG). Catfish, Trout, Bass, Panfish, and Carp exist in the lake. Float tubes allowed!!!!! ANOTHER FREEBIE......No launch fee!
Other: BBQ and pets allowed. Boats are also avilable for rent.

Cerritos Park Lake (Cerritos Regional County Park)
NO FLOATS, NO BOATS!!
General Location: Enlarged Print Thomas Guide pp 767, 90703-
A-3 Located between Del Amo and 195th Street at 19700 S. Bloomfield Ave. Convenient to the SR-91 or the 605 freeways.
Size: The park has two lakes. The smaller lake is about 1/2 acre in size. The larger lake is 3 acres in size.
Open: Year-round, Entrance-Free, with fishing being sunrise to sunset.
Parking: 200+ spaces, Free
Fishing: Requires fishing license (DFG) Bass, Catfish, Trout, Bluegill, and Carp. Catfish and Trout stocked in season. No body contact with the water. 5 fish limit posted!
Other: Lighting is good, BBQ and pets allowed, restrooms are clean. Paved sidewalk around the lake. Cute geese and ducks.

La Mirada Lake/Regional Park
NO FLOATS, NO BOATS!!
General Location: Large Print Thomas Guide pp 707 90638-G-3 The nearest intersection is Rosecrans Ave. and La Mirada Blvd. The park is located at 13701 S. Adlefa just off of La Mirada Blvd.
Size: The lake is long, narrow and 2.3 acres in size. There are some obstructions in the water and lots of overhanging trees for the flyfisher! ha ha
Open: Entrance-Free Although the park may be open later, the fishing times are from sunrise to sunset in accordance with DFG regulations.
Parking: Free, There is parking along the streets and in the recreation center/parks central lot.
Fishing: Free, Fishing license is required (DFG). Catfish and Trout are stocked and there are number of other species.
Other: Sidewalks surround the lake and there is lighting at night.

Downey Wilderness Park Lake
NO FLOATS, NO BOATS!!
General Location: Large Print Thomas Guide pp 706 90240-E-5. This lake is just off Florence Ave. (the address is 10999 Little Lake Road) heading west after just getting off the northbound 605 Florence offramp. The park is right under the shadow of the freeway. The entrance is very easy to miss.
Size: The lake is 1.1 acres in size.
Open: Year-round. Entrance- Free Open to fishing sunrise to sunset.
Parking: Free The parking lot has around 50 spaces.
Fishing: Free You must have a fishing license (DFG). This is a real cement pond and I advise fishing only at or after plantings. Catfish and Trout in season. I'm sure they also have carp. I believe they have a no overhead casting rule or at least they did at one time! More crowded than the piers???
Other: Well lighted with fising from both sidewalks and grassy banks. There is a smaller pond but I don't think it is planted unless its by bucket-biologist.

El Dorado Regional Park Lakes
NO FLOATS, NO BOATS!!
General Location: Large Print Thomas Guide pp 796, 90808-G-1. The park is located just off and along the 605 freeway between Carson and Spring St. (single entrance gates, address is 7750 East Spring St.) Exit gates on both Wardlow Road and Spring St.
Size: 30.6 acres. This is hard to figure as there are four lakes which in total seem like more surface area.
Open: Entrance- fee charged per vehicle or yearly pass avaliable. 7 days a week. Main lake does not have access Tuesday mornings. Opening and closing times vary throughout the year.
Parking: Free, Plenty of parking along the roadside inside the park or designated parking lots.
Fishing: Free, Fishing license is required (DFG) Catfish and Trout plants regularly during the season. Bass, Bluegill, Redear, Catfish, Carp, Crappie, and Trout inhabit the lake year-round. The most popular lake is the third one from the entrance and has the park ranger station. A bulletin board tells you when the last plant was done on the outside office wall.
Other: Lakes have BBQ, paved sidewalks and lighting. Plenty of clean restrooms and picnic tables, etc. Lots of friendly ducks, geese, and four legged squirrls!

Peck Road Park Lake
NO FLOATS, NO BOATS!!!
General Location: Large Print Thomas Guide pp 597, 91006-F-3. Address is 5401 North Peck Road, Arcadia The lake is in the apex of Live Oak Ave. and North Peck Road. Take the Live Oak Ave. Offramp from the Northbound 605 and go west to North Peck Road then turn south.
Size: The combined water surface is 80 acres.
Open: Year-round BUT ...... Call for confirmation if needed as there are closures. Phone: (626) 334-1065.
Parking: Free in some areas while an entrance fee (when in effect) covers parking in others.
Fishing: Free, Fishing requires a fishing license (DFG). Bass, Catfish, Bluegill, and Carp inhabit the lake. Trout planted too in season but the water temprature is a problem sometimes. No float tubing or boats.
Other: The area is rather barren but does have trees in the park and along the shorelline.

Puddingstone Lake (Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park)
FLOAT TUBES AND BOATS ALLOWED!
General Location: Large Print Thomas Guide pp 600, 91773/C-5. Located near the intersection of the I-10 and I-210 freeways.
Size: Approximately 250 acre lake.
Open: Year-round, Entrance- Fee required via vehicles on week-ends and special occasions. Hours vary according to the season. Sunrise to 10PM Mar 1 to Oct 31 and Sunrise to 7PM Nov 1 to Feb 28.
Parking: Free, Most areas have excellent parking facilities.
Fishing: Free, Fishing license is required (DFG). Bass, Trout, Catfish, and Panfish. There are a number of fishing piers. Float Tubing allowed as well as other watercraft powered or otherwise within designated length regulations.
Other: Boating and Camping allowed. The park rangers are very strict here.

Santa Fe Dam Lake
NO FLOATS, but BOATS (Rented Paddle, Row, Electric Motor Boats)
General Location: Large Print Thomas Guide pp 598, 91010/D-1, 15501 East Arrow Highway, Irwindale. The lake is located on the southeast section of the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area. Entrance may be gained off of Irwindale Ave.
Size: 70 acres with 3 islands.
Open: Year-round, $6 Fee per vehicle on week-ends and special days. Opening and Closing times seasonal. Entrance duirng the last two hours of park operation is free.
Parking: Free, designated areas.
Fishing: Free, Fishing license required (DFG). Bass, Trout, Catfish, and Panfish inhabit the lake. Stocking of Trout and Catfish seasonally.
Other: Boats avaliable for rent. (on occasion)

Legg Lake (Whitter Narrows Recreational Area)
NO FLOATS, NO BOATS (Rentals avaliable seasonally)
General Location: Large Print Thomas Guide pp 637, 90660, Near the intersection of the 60 and the 605. Entrance off of Dufee or Santa Anita.
Size: 3 small lakes total 73 acres.
Open: Year-round (except christmas)
Parking: Free weekdays, designated parking inside park.
Fishing: Free, Fishing license required (DFG) Bass, Trout, Catfish, and Bluegill. Four islands within casting distance from shore.
Other: Rowboat rentals in season.

#10 Alondra Lake (Alondra Park)
General Location: Large Print Thomas Guide pp 733, 90260, 3850 West Manhatten Beach Blvd., Lawndale Just off the 405 Redondo Beach Blvd. offramp.
Size: 10 acres in size with a 2 acre island.
Open: Year-round, Entrance-free, Lake closes at 10pm.
Parking: Free, parking in designated areas.
Fishing: Free, Fishing license required (DFG) Species include: Bass, Trout and Catfish (stocked) and Bluegill. Fishing from sunrise to sunset.
Other: Birding is really good here.

#11 Lake Balboa
General Location: Large Print Thomas Guide pp 531 91406/91436/D-7 6300 Balboa Blvd.
Size: 27 acres.
Open: Year-round, Free entrance. Sunrise to sunset.
Parking: Free, both designated and street parking.
Fishing: Free, Fishing license required by DFG, Fishing is sunrise to sunset. Bass, trout, Catfish, Bluegill, and Tilapia. Trout and Catfish are occasionally stocked.
Other: Park may be closed for special events. Boating from 9am to 1/2 before dark.

Hey ROn,
How about starting a petition for us to have float tubing access in the 3rd lake one or two days a week? the lake is big enough and has a launch ramp that could serve as our launch ramp and if they had to have a small fee and a waiver.
